Craft lattes (hot or iced), bake delicious pastries like matcha doughnuts or soufflés, and prepare refreshing smoothies with our first-flush matcha grown along the lush mountains of Shizuoka, home to about forty percent of Japan's tea farms.
Matcha is made from finely ground shade-grown tea leaves called tencha. It contains about three times the antioxidants of regular green tea and is an excellent source for powerful catechins such as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) that are believed to have cleansing, anti-viral effects.
Contains about 60 mg of caffeine per teaspoon.
1. Heat 2 oz (¼ cup) spring or filtered water to 175°F / 79°C. If preparing an iced latte, use cool or cold water.
2. Add 1–1.5 tsp (5–7.5 g) matcha to chawan (matcha bowl) or katakuchi (spouted bowl), then top with water. Whisk in a zigzag motion until a layer of foam appears. Alternatively, you may use an electric frother in a tall beaker.
3. HOT. Add matcha to mug or glass along with 1 tsp maple syrup (optional). Warm ¾ cup (6 oz) your choice of milk and add to matcha.
ICED. Fill cup with ice, Add ¾ cup (6 oz) your choice of milk (cold or room temperature). Top with tea and gently swirl.
I live in the Bay Area but frequently travel to San Diego and Paru is always a required stop - mainly for the matcha. So glad that I finally purchased the Culinary Matcha so that I can recreate the latte at home in between trips. It is MILES better than any store bought matcha and makes my mornings (with a brand new baby) so much better and more energized, which I desperately need. So thankful for this matcha and for Paru. Thank you, Amy!
The Organic Culinary Matcha is great, perfect for matcha lattes!
Truly lovely matcha! I use this for both lattes and desserts; it is delightful in both, with a bright and nuanced flavor profile.
I got this for both my boyfriend and my grandmother, and they have really bonded over making matcha lattes every day! The matcha is tasty and great for lattes.
Bought this matcha for my husband for Christmas and he has made a matcha latte at least once a day. Also bought the matcha whisk and it works perfectly. Cannot recommend these items enough!
