Our wakoucha, or black tea, is sourced directly from a family-owned hillside farm in Ryôgouchi, Shizuoka. Black and non-yabukita teas are rare in Japan, the latter accounting for as little as 2% of the tea market there. Instead this one is categorized as zairai, meaning it is grown from a seed rather than cuttings. The result is a rounded, honey-like profile, plus the usual characteristics of a classic black tea.
