Originally used for sake, katakuchi is a lipped bowl for whisking and serving matcha or hojicha. The serving spout makes it convenient for you to whisk your tea powder and easily pour it into other cups or mugs.
Made in San Diego by Maek Ceramics.
Please note each bowl is made slightly differently from another, the beauty of wabi-sabi. This term in Japanese means “a way of living that focuses on finding beauty within the imperfections of life and accepting peacefully the natural cycle of growth and decay.”
PARU X MAEK Teaware Collection: Katakuchi (Lipped Tea Bowl)
Elegant, sturdy, easy to use. Infinitely preferable to a bowl without a spout, the nice high 'walls' allow you to whisk vigorously without fear of splashing. Then it's easy to pour my tea into multiple waiting cups. Ideal!
