Considered as the first white pottery in Japan, Shino's thick, white skin beautifully displays cracks, pinholes, glaze drips, and uneven paint. Known as wabi-sabi, this Japanese term is “a way of living that focuses on finding beauty within the imperfections of life and accepting peacefully the natural cycle of growth and decay.” In order to make Shino that can be widely used on modern dining tables, Heüge reduced the cracks and bumps on the surface as much as possible to leave a thick and soft taste. Experience the warmth of Shino with your own hands.
Please note each cup is made by hand and may vary in size, shape, and appearance from, the beauty of wabi-sabi.
