About producer Nakata Kizo

Nakata Kizo was born in 1940 in Takayama, Ikoma, Nara prefecture. Although he was the son of a rice farmer, he was sent to a public service apprenticeship for making matcha whisks at the age of 14. He would continued learning various techniques before after finishing his apprenticeship and start the Nakata Kizo Corporation in 1975. Today, his company produces about half of Japan's matcha whisks.
